The FBI is always seeking applicants with special qualifications to become Special Agents and, ultimately, to serve on each of these teams. Surveillance investigators are essential for countering threats, both foreign and domestic. No matter their area of focus, most FBI agents find themselves collecting and analyzing data, questioning and interviewing suspects and using various forms of self-defense. Each agent type specializes in a particular area and works in tandem with others to formulate a solution. With enough evidence, they begin the paperwork process, filling out forms, reports and records. A high-level of physical fitness necessary to effectively respond to life-threatening situations on the job. Although there are few special experience requirements, most agent roles require at least three years of general professional experience. Further, you will need to be a U.S. citizen with good physical and mental health who can pass the necessary physical fitness and psychological evaluations; this especially applies to special agent accountants. Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills. Some roles within the FBI require additional education.
