Lansky Sharpening System Review Overview Lansky’s Deluxe Controlled-Angle Sharpening System allows even the most amateur users to sharpen knives quickly and efficiently. The problems that I've had is that I always seem to make my knives more dull. The Lansky Diamond System is great sharpener for the beginning knife enthusiast or the advanced knife & cutlery expert.
I'll continue to practice with the stones and sandpaper, but I'd really like to get a couple of my better knives up to a working edge. Using a stone requires one to get the "science" of it all down pat. Even your kid brother could do it (that's if you trust him with sharp, pointy objects!) I was originally looking at just getting a cheap Lansky Turn Box sharpener that uses the round ceramic sticks set at preset angles. Has anyone had any experience on using this? Okay first a bit of background. Am I better off saving $20 and just getting the cheap Turn Box with 20 and 25 degree sharpening angles?

I would suggest spending a little more and getting the diamond set. Sharpening a knife with a traditional stone can be difficult because holding the blade at the wrong, or an erratic angle does not allow for the blade’s bevel to be consistent.
