This is a love story, this is a horror, fiction all rolled up into one. Carrying that 6 week old fetus to term seemed like a dangerous move to me. Now he is deeply in love with Jessica and their adorable kindergartner, Kira. The connection between these two was based in friendship, somewhat slow burn and had such chemistry that it sucked me in totally.

The one saving grace was the main character who still has me pondering whether a person's past deeds define them and they deserve anything bad that comes their way or whether forgiveness is the answer. This was the first book I stopped in the middle because I couldn’t bear to go on.

Did I skip a page? Not bad at all, just... not really my thing, I guess. I originally found this book when I was researching an essay on recent developments in the vampire novel. This is a love story, this is a horror, fiction all rolled up into one. Their relationship gets complicated in a very bad way. A Goodreads friend reviewed this book - said it wasn't really her thing, actually, but I was intrigued by the book's blurb. They get to enjoy all of the stuff that the adults would like but they also have the joy of knowing that at no point does this book "write down" to them. Can not wait for the second book in the series. I read this book at least three times (it's been at least 7 years since I read it last). Also the writing is great. I'm not sure why Goodreads recommended this book to me, but because it was by an author whom I'd never heard of, I figured I'd give it a shot. Gabriel a loud, obnoxious neighbor next door is driving her crazy. I cheered when Tod punched Nash but if I'd have been Kaylee he would've received a good beating with my own two fists and feet. No matter what I think of a book, the basic question I pose to myself when I’m trying to figure out what rating to give it is: how much did I want to read it. Carolina wrestles the guilt of the past while trying to stay in the present.
